Application materials and deadlines

 

We will mail you the Graduate School application materials, unless we have information indicating that you have already been sent these materials (if you follow the link for the Graduate School below, you will be able to apply on-line). If you choose to apply, please follow the instructions on these materials carefully, especially with regard to submitting documents to the Graduate School. They will not release your application to us until it is complete. If there are any questions regarding the application materials, please direct them to:

Your application should be sent in two parts—one part to the Graduate Admissions Office at the address above, the other part directly to the UConn Linguistics Department at the following address:

The material to be included in the package to the Graduate Admissions Office must include:

            i)          Application for admission (electronic application is highly preferred)
            ii)         Processing fee
            iii)        Official transcript from each college/university attended
            iv)        Official copy of degree certificate or diploma, unless that information is contained in the transcripts
            v)         Official TOEFL or IELTS score (if applicable; GRE scores are optional)
            vi)        Residence Affidavit (Connecticut residents only)
            vii)       Photocopy of passport (international applicants)
            viii)      Financial declaration form (international applicants)

The material to be included in the package to the Linguistics department should consist of:

            i)          Personal letter of application
            ii)         Letters of recommendation
            iii)        Paper (research sample)
            iv)        Department of Linguistics Application Supplement
            v)         Optional: copies of transcripts

 

Deadline:

We begin considering students for admission in January. It is to your advantage to ensure that your application materials are received as early in the year as possible.

All applications should be received by January 15th, although we will continue to review applications until all spots are filled.
