Hello, I'm Sabine. You can be my friend if you pronounce my name as "Sabeeneh" (instead of "Sabeen" (or anything else)). I'm from Vienna, Austria, and as most Austrians, I have recent roots into other countries, in my case Hungary and Croatia as you can see on my surname. I've studied linguistics and computer science in Vienna, but nowadays my ambitions in the latter area have reduced to hacking around on my servers. Apart from that, you can find me playing the piano or the saxophone (but not simultaneously) or studying new languages. Currently I'm into ASL!
As for linguistics, I'm interested in the connection between morphosyntax and semantics. I wrote my diploma thesis on differential object and subject marking in Turkish, focussing on the role of specificity. I'm looking forward to (hopefully only) five exciting years at UConn!
