Yuta Sakamoto

My name is Yuta Sakamoto. I am from Saitama in Japan, which is next to Tokyo. I received my B.Ed. from Saitama University and my M.A. in linguistics from Tohoku University. As my degrees show, I first wanted to be an English teacher, but a chance encounter with generative syntax totally changed my future. The beauty of  its theories really intrigued me, and I could not help pursuing my interest. My particular interest is ellipsis from a comparative view, and I wrote my M.A. thesis on sluicing in Japanese and Mongolian.

In my leisure time, I hang out with my friends and drink beer though I cannot drink a lot. In addition, I am now a big fan of a group of Japanese young stars, and watch their music videos and DVDs I brought from Japan for recreation (the picture shows the young stars' concert I enjoyed the day right before my departure to the US).
