Research Interests

My research focuses on experimental approaches to syntactic theory, and the relationship between syntactic theory and sentence processing. The ultimate goal is to construct a comprehensive theory of the mental representations of sentences and the cognitive processes that construct those representations. Given the complexity of this problem, I also like to explore the power of various methodological tools for uncovering the nature of the language faculty. My primary focus has been acceptability judgment experiments, with recent expansions into corpus analyses, EEG, and fMRI.
