RegistrationPlease register for the SignTyp conference by sending us an email at SignTyp@uconn.edu. Your email should include your name, address, dates you expect to actually be attending, any special needs you may have (such as interpreting, visual needs, mobility, dietary requirements or other), and if you will be participating in the meal plan (explained below). If there is more than one author, we need to know who will be attending. The conference registration fee has been established as follows:
For registration before May 1: Student or unemployed: $50/ employed: $80After May 1: Student or unemployed $75/employed $100.
In addition to the registration fee, you may want to consider participating in the meal plan offered by the Nathan Hale Inn. The fee for meals is $210 before may 1 and $240 after may 1. This fee will cover meals for the three days of the conference (breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 26-28). We are offering this because food service in walking distance is extremely limited, (although the Nathan Hale Inn does offer breakfast lunch and dinner).
These amounts must be sent as a check for US dollars payable to the university of Connecticut. Please add a memo line on your check indicating that the check is for the first SignTyp conference. The mailing address is:
First SignTyp ConferenceThe Linguistics DepartmentUniversity of ConnecticutDepartment of Linguistics, Unit 1145337 Mansfield RoadStorrs, CT 06269-1145
When you mail the check, please send us an email that it has been mailed, and for how much. That will help us to keep track of who has paid, and chase down missing checks. If you are not living in the United States, and find it difficult to send a check in US dollars, please contact us and we will work with you to resolve the difficulty.A number of rooms have been set aside at the Nathan Hale Inn, which is conveniently located on the Storrs campus, a 5-minute walk from the venue of the conference. The reduced rates for conference participants are $119.00/night for single or double occupancy. A triple or quad occupancy is available on request for $129. If you are on a low budget and would like to share the fixed price of the room with more than one person, it is a good idea to reserve the room as a group. If you need help in finding one or more people to share a room with, let us know well in advance. However, we cannot guarantee that we will find a match for everyone.Once the block is full, rooms and rates will be based on availability, with a somewhat less reduced rate (approximately $135) . To make a reservation and get the discounted rates, state that you are with the First SignTyp conference! Call 860-427-7888 or email joyce.bennett@ihrco.com. More information can be found at http://www.nathanhaleinn.com, but please do not make reservations using the website. It will not calculate your group rate.If no more rooms are available at the Nathan Hale, the closest alternative is 5 miles away at the Best Western Hotel <http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-322280-best_western_regent_inn-i> in Mansfield (next to Big Y). In all cases, local transportation is very limited (especially during the weekend), so you would have to drive your own car or ask for a ride from other participants, or take a taxi. We are sorry, but we will probably not be able to take you there or pick you up from there ourselves. We strongly recommend reserving your room at the Nathan Hale Inn as soon as possible. |
