Minor in Linguistics

For the Linguistics Minor, a student must satisfy the following requirements: all the courses in Group A; at least one course from Group B; and either a second course from Group B, or one course from Group C.

A. Core areas of theoretical linguistics:

LING 2010Q: Science of Linguistics
LING 3310Q: Phonology
LING 3510Q: Syntax and Semantics

B. Linguistics extensions:

Any other 2000-level Linguistics course.

C. Linguistics in related fields:

ANTH 3002: Language and Culture
PHIL 2211Q: Symbolic Logic
PHIL 3241: Language: Meaning and Truth
PSYC 3500: Introduction to the Psychology of Language

Completion of a minor requires that a student earn a C (2.0) grade or better in each of the required courses for that minor. A maximum of 3 credits towards the minor may be transfer credits of courses equivalent to University of Connecticut courses. Substitutions are not posible for required courses in a minor.
