Ian Roberts has published six monographs and two textbooks, and has edited several collections of articles. He was also Joint Editor of Journal of Linguistics, the journal of the Linguistics Association of Great Britain, in 1994-8. He was president of Generative Linguistics of the Old World (GLOW), the principal international organisation for generative linguistics, in 1993-2001 and president of the Societas Linguistica Europaea in 2012-3. He has been an Ordinary Fellow of the British Academy since 2007 and a Member of the Academia Europaea since 2008. In 2013 he was awarded a doctorate honoris causa by the University of Bucharest.
